About Us

Executive Summary:

Vaishnav Sangh of Sydney a not-for-profit organisation established in Sydney in 2001. Our main objective is to be a Service of Excellence within our local community. We serve the cultural, spiritual, educational, social and welfare needs of all ages in the Australian local Community.

Vaishnav Sangh of Sydney celebrates and organises key Indian festivals and events, conducts educational classes and provides and participates in cultural activities. Our only financial support is from public donations and all funds raised are only for the benefit of our community in Sydney.

Vision Statement:

To establish a permanent place for the Australian multicultural community, to preserve, celebrate and promote educational, spiritual and cultural activities.

We also aim to promote a strong vibrant, secular and multicultural relationship between all Australian communities.

Background in Sydney:

Vaishnav Sangh of Sydney (VS-SYD) was established in 2001 and has grown from strength to strength over the years.  With the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, VS-SYD continues to grow in promoting Vaishnav values and culture.

The Vaishnav Sanghs in Australia (NSW, QLD, VIC, WA, SA & ACT) are part of the International Vaishnav Sangh, established by Vaishnavacharya Shri Dwarkeshlalji Mahoday Shree (Kadi-Ahemdabad).

Our key objectives are to:

  • provide a place of worship and to uphold the Hindu and Vaishnav Dharm
  • provide education to young children and the youth for their growth and development (language, art, drama, multicultural culture)
  • promote local culture and values amongst the local community, and
  • welfare services for the elderly as required (social gatherings, food services for all)

In the wider community, we participate by:

  • volunteering,
  • blood donation drives, and
  • coordinate charitable activities in the local community.

Activities:

We hold monthly cultural events and activities for our community to uphold the Hindu & Vaishnav teachings, and where we also conduct educational classes.

In particular, we have been conducting:

  • Bal Sabha (children) classes for 5 – 11 years old. We teach Hindu & Vaishnav values and culture, as well as Gujrati language classes. Children are also taught & perform cultural dances.
  • We conduct Kishor Pusti classes for 12 – 18 years old children. Similar to Bal Sabha classes, but in a little more in-depth.
  • We also have a specific active Youth Wing (for 18 – 30 years), as they are our future leaders. They actively participate in assisting with the educational classes, and
      • organising social & cultural events
      • volunteering in their local community, and
      • coordinate charitable activities in the local community.

Vaishnav Sangh of Sydney is registered with:

  • The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC)
  • Hindu Organisations, Temples and Associations (HOTA)

Our status with the ACNC is on the basis of our objectives and that our constitution states that EVERY dollar we raise is ONLY for the use for the Vaishnavas in Sydney.

We are NOT associated with any other Vaishnav organisations in Sydney.
